Amtrak Will Launch First Round of Community Grants for B&P Tunnel Program March 23rd

Amtrak will begin accepting applications for its Community Investment Program on March 23, targeting projects near the Frederick Douglass Tunnel alignment in Baltimore. The program is part of a $50 million phased investment to replace the 150‑year‑old B&P Tunnel, a critical link on the Northeast Corridor. Grants are open to qualified non‑profits and government entities within a quarter‑mile of the tunnel and cover six categories, including workforce development and historic preservation. A separate $2.75 million historic preservation fund and a $5 million Workforce Hub are also earmarked.
