Military 5G Deployments Offer Blueprint for Resilient Private Networks

Telefónica has leveraged more than 15 NATO‑backed field trials to roll out multi‑domain 5G tactical bubbles across land, sea, air and space, culminating in Europe’s first 5G Cyber Defense Center. The centre, built with Spain’s Ministry of Defense, feeds solutions into NATO’s Digital Foundry and serves as a testbed for AI‑driven security, edge computing and quantum research. Recent demonstrations include an airborne 5G bubble on an Airbus transport plane and a ship‑board node that linked naval assets without satellite reliance.
