Ubisoft Confirms Layoffs at Toronto Studio, but Insists Splinter Cell’s Remake Is Still Coming

Ubisoft confirmed it is laying off roughly 40 employees, about 8% of its Toronto studio, one of the company’s largest development hubs. The cuts come as part of a broader restructuring that introduces autonomous "creative houses" and aims to trim fixed costs by €200 million over two years. Despite the reductions, Ubisoft assured that the highly anticipated Splinter Cell remake, built on the Snowdrop engine, remains on schedule. The layoffs follow a series of cost‑cutting moves that have already cancelled six titles, postponed seven, and shuttered two studios worldwide.
