UK Rail Research Leader Speaks on Manufacturing, Collaboration in Melbourne

Luisa Moisio, Director of Research at the UK Rail Safety and Standards Board, delivered the 13th Stephen Marich Annual Lecture at Monash University, outlining two decades of British rail research collaboration. She emphasized the UK Rail Technical Strategy and the UK Rail Research Innovation Network as models for aligning academia, industry, and regulators. Australian leaders highlighted the Australian Rail Research Innovation Network, launched in 2023, as a counterpart inspired by the UK approach. The event underscored how coordinated research can boost manufacturing, safety and Australia’s net‑zero rail ambitions.
