Leonardo to Provide Four C-27J MPAs for Saudi Arabia

Leonardo has secured a contract to deliver four C-27J maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense, marking the first C-27J variant equipped with integrated maritime weapon systems. The order follows Saudi’s earlier acquisition of two C-27Js for firefighting, cargo, and medical evacuation missions, highlighting the platform’s multi‑role flexibility. The MPA retains the Spartan’s avionics and self‑protection suite while adding a dedicated mission suite for surface and submarine detection. Deliveries to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces are scheduled to start in 2029.
