U.S. Unveils “Parasitic” MMAUV That Hitchhikes Onto Ships & Submarines — Changing Rules Of Naval Warfare

Lockheed Martin has unveiled the Lamprey Multi‑Mission Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (MMAUV), a plug‑and‑play drone that latches onto ships or submarines and recharges via built‑in hydrogenerators. The modular vehicle can arrive at a theater fully charged and launch aerial drones, torpedoes, decoys, or conduct ISR missions from the seabed. Its suction‑cup docking requires no host modifications, allowing a single platform to transport multiple units. The Lamprey MMAUV is positioned as a force multiplier that could reshape undersea combat and sensor coverage for the U.S. Navy and allies.
