Technicians know to look not only for oversold extremes but also divergences, such as credit spreads making a lower high while equity indices make lower lows. So far, we are not seeing those. One glimmer of hope, at least over the short term, is that while the MSCI ACWI made a new low on Friday, the percentage of global stocks trading above their 50-day average made a higher low. This suggests that at least some sort of short-term trading low may be near.
