Actuators, Not Aesthetics, Will Drive Humanoid Robot Value
Everyone is watching the robots. I think the smarter bet may be hiding inside them. The more I look at humanoid robotics, the more I feel many people are focusing on the shiny part of the story and missing the layer that may end up capturing a lot of the value. That is what makes actuators so interesting to me. They are not the part that gets the headlines. But they are the part that makes the robot actually move. In many ways, they are the closest thing a machine has to muscles and joints. And once you start thinking about that, the economics become a lot more interesting. A human arm has 7 degrees of freedom. Reproducing even part of that smooth movement takes multiple actuators working together. So when you scale that across a full humanoid robot, you are no longer looking at one product. You are looking at dozens of motion-critical components inside every single machine. That is the hidden shift I think more people will wake up to. If humanoids really scale, the real winners may not only be the companies building the robots everyone shares online. A lot of value could move to the companies supplying the infrastructure inside every joint, every movement, every action. That is often how these waves work. Most people chase the product. The smarter ones watch the layer every product depends on. → more humanoids being built → more motion complexity per machine → more actuators required in every unit → more value flowing to component makers That is why I would not underestimate this part of the robotics story. So here is the question I keep coming back to: Will the biggest winners in humanoid robotics be the robot makers, or the companies building the parts that make them move? #AI #Robotics #Humanoids #Automation #Innovation #DeepTech #Manufacturing #Technology #FutureOfWork
