Recycled Thermocol Nanofibers Based Smart Triboelectric Nanogenerators for AI‐Assisted Switching
Researchers transformed waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) into electrospun nanofibers and used them as the tribonegative layer in a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). The nanofibrous architecture delivers an open‑circuit voltage of about 159 V, a short‑circuit current of 22 µA, and a peak power density of 2,083 mW/m², outperforming common polymers such as PTFE and PET. The device remains stable for over six months under varying humidity and temperature, and it powers an AI‑assisted switching interface that controls a digital elevator. This work showcases a waste‑to‑value pathway for sustainable, high‑performance energy harvesters.
