Import AI 433: AI Auditors; Robot Dreams; and Software for Helping an AI Run a Lab

Researchers unveiled two advances that could accelerate AI-driven physical science and robotics: Ctrl‑World, a controllable generative world model initialized from a 1.5B Stable‑Video‑Diffusion model, lets robots “dream” simulated environments to evaluate and improve policies—post‑training on Ctrl‑World synthetic data raised instruction‑following success by 44.7%. Separately, LabOS integrates multiagent planning, XR interfaces, and a LabSuperVision dataset to enable AI‑assisted wet‑lab execution; a fine‑tuned LabOS‑VLM (235B) achieved over 90% error‑detection accuracy on held‑out tests, far outpacing Gemini, GPT‑4o and other baselines that scored roughly 2–3 out of 5. Together these projects promise much faster robot R&D and scalable AI co‑scientists that can design, monitor and document experiments—raising productivity and safety questions as AI systems gain operational control in physical labs.
