Smart D8 Opens Doors to Health and Wellbeing Innovators for Sixth Consecutive Year

Smart D8, Dublin’s first health‑focused smart district, has opened its sixth open call for pilot projects, offering up to €10,000 per project to test innovations in real community settings. The 2026 call targets three priority themes—nutrition, social connectedness and workplace wellbeing—and aims to validate solutions that can prevent illness at scale. Since its 2020 launch, the initiative has engaged over 21,500 residents, representing 45% of the Dublin 8 population, through a partnership of local government, hospitals, universities and enterprise hubs. Selected pilots will receive funding, mentorship and access to a living testbed to measure population health impact.
