AI Tools Cheap; People and Change Management Matter Most
Too many companies are about to learn that the tools were the cheap part. So many companies are at one or more of these stages already: 🛠️ Organization buys the AI stack. ✂️ Cuts the team that would have actually used it. 📉 Six months later, adoption is flat and leadership is frustrated 😡 Nobody can quite figure out what happened. I'd argue the AI restructuring wave has at least two significant flaws. First, the tools don't run themselves. Someone has to build the workflow, tune it, integrate it, and defend it to the team. Someone has to know what to measure. Someone has to know why the output is wrong when the model hallucinates. That "someone" is too often the marketer you just let go. Second, and more important — adoption is a change management problem first, a software problem well down the list. It doesn't matter how good the tool is if half the team thinks the new workflow is a performance review in disguise. It matters whether the org can redesign roles without triggering a quiet quit. It matters whether a CMO and an ops leader can agree on what "revenue orchestration" actually means inside their company. The tech is cheap. The adoption is expensive. The change management can be difficult, time-consuming and candidly brutal. Organizations that figured this out early are compounding. Teams that went tools-first are (or soon will be) quietly rebuilding the muscle they just let go — at a higher cost and half the speed. Be on the right side of this one.
Success with AI SDRs Demands 50+ Iterations
