Environmental groups, including the Surfrider Foundation’s Save The Southern Seas petition, are mobilising surfers and coastal communities to oppose the licences, arguing the areas host unique marine life and are vital for tourism. Potential bidders include ConocoPhillips, Korea National Oil Corporation, Thor Energy and H2EX.
