AI Agents Will Shrink Software Seat Counts

AI is coming for your seats. And it doesn't even mean to. What do I mean? We've gone from 0 to 12 AI Agents at little team SaaStr this year, and as part of that ... we don't need as many Human Seats. We just don't need as many seats of Salesforce, of Notion, of Mixmax, and more. We need them. Just not as many seats. Vendors will figure this out. They will charge for agent usage, they will ship their own agents, they will charge per API call etc. They will figure it out. But until they do, seats won't just be impacted by layoffs and tighter ships. They will be impacted by the fact that AI Agents just don't often need them. Or very many of them.
