Perfat Technologies Unveils High-Fibre Solid Fat Alternative From Sunflower Seeds
Finnish startup Perfat Technologies launched Perfat Soft, a solid fat made from high‑oleic sunflower oil, soluble corn fibre and natural antioxidants. The oleogel delivers 34 g of fiber per 100 g, zero trans fat and 11.7 g of saturated fat—over 75% less than butter or palm oil—while cutting calories by 14% versus butter. Backed by €7 million ($7.9 million) in funding and a production capacity of more than 1,000 metric tonnes annually, the product targets bakery, confectionery and plant‑based dairy and meat applications. Its carbon footprint of 1.7 kg CO₂e per kg is roughly 80% lower than dairy butter, positioning it as a sustainable alternative.
