Bercankilic Supplies World’s Top Robotics Video Data
The world model builder, or the guy who is keeping America competitive with China in robotics AI. Most people don't know @bercankilic but you should. Almost every robotics company in San Francisco/Silicon Valley buys his data. Video data. He is largely seen as the best at providing that data in the world. Yesterday I got to know him a lot better. Took him and his cofounders to Bucks Restaurant after visiting @tangiblerobots with him and meeting with its CEO @bipashasen31. Who just moved into their new office, investor @Shaughnessy119 visited right before me and praised the team there: https://t.co/OzaQmRWHBD Aside: when you walk into Tangible Robotics headquarters they have a full bedroom right in front of their headquarters where they train their robot to do things like folding laundry, making beds, cleaning up and organizing. All tasks we will want our robots to do someday. We sat at the table where Tesla incorporated. Of course. He started out working on the Red Bull Formula 1 racing team, was an aerodynamics engineer. When Chat GPT first came along, he saw a new thing he could do for the team: analyze its petabytes of data in a new way. That got him to see the a new thing to do with data: help build robots. So he built a network of people around the world who wear glasses with cameras on them and do tasks at home. Capture that task on video cameras on the glasses, like folding laundry. His dataset now has more than 10,000 hours of such video data. Which he sells to robot companies who are using it to build their world models. Almost every company on my robotics list who is located in USA or Europe buys his data. https://t.co/F3MplWNJEj He told me he soon will have a pair of glasses that have nine cameras on them to collect even better data to train world models. Shows how one person can dramatically change the world without being famous, or well known. But now you know. And he confirmed that World Models are changing robotics deeply and are the future. Among a few other things I'll keep to myself for now. After all, he knows the robotics industry deeper than anyone else I've met in my studying of the robotics industry. He agrees that a generalized, humanoid robot, is years away. But when we all finally do get one it'll be his data that made it all happen. And he laid out some of the things he needs to build to help robots get trained on new things that are hard for them to learn from just video data. Brain/computer interfaces are in his head. If I were to write another book about the future (I've already written eight), it would be about brain/computer interfaces and if I did write another book his work would be featured in the opening chapter. He is that important to the future, and it was an honor to spend a few hours with him.
