Open‑source Robotics Lets Anyone Swap World Models

Out of the fire rises a Phoenix. Now they need a World Model (er a VLA) and then an open source robot makes sense to me as a business. Will be watching to see if this new effort can put it all together. Welcome to Silicon Valley. So many robotics companies are gone. They say "hardware is hard" for a reason and not only is this effort up against quite a few billionaires in America, but a Chinese ecosystem that's getting more powerful by the day. Why does open source robotics matter? Well, lots of people will want to put in a different world model into their robot for various things. For instance, the Chinese world models will understand how to run a factory floor better than the American models. So I could see an American business that rips out the American World Model and sticks in a Chinese one. Or a surgeon might want to rip out the default world model and stick in one made by @sully_the_ai. It's a weird world. And the weirder it gets the more value open source will have.
