Hartford’s hotel market has rebounded, with occupancy and ADR surpassing pre‑pandemic levels. Yet the city has shed roughly 1,300 rooms since 2019, and recent conversions have turned former hotels into residential units. The shortfall leaves the Connecticut Convention Center with only 400‑600 nearby rooms, far below the 500‑room cushion identified as essential for growth. Consequently, the CTCC is pivoting to smaller, day‑trip events while facing competition from nearby markets, prompting calls to repurpose vacant office space into new lodging.
