Lindian Resources Secures $100M to Advance Malawi Rare Earths Project
Lindian Resources, an Australian ASX‑listed company, has raised $100 million to fund the first stage of its Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi. The financing will be used debt‑free, replacing a previously planned $32 million loan, and aims to start production in 2026.

The Australian Government’s 2025 edition of Australia’s Identified Mineral Resources (AIMR) highlights a surge in critical mineral reserves and production, reinforcing the nation’s role as a reliable supplier for high‑tech manufacturing, defence and clean‑energy sectors. Eleven critical minerals, including fluorine, graphite and rare‑earth elements, recorded significant resource growth, while output of tungsten, molybdenum, lithium and platinum‑group metals rose sharply in 2024. Australia retained top global rankings for gold, iron ore and several other commodities, and now ranks third for rare‑earth resources and production. The $3.4 billion Resourcing Australia’s Prosperity initiative underpins these gains by funding pre‑competitive geoscience research.
