From Mom’s Envelope System to Ramp’s EU Expansion
Here's what growing up in Lebanon taught me about B2B fintech: My mom used to send me to the corner store with cash folded in my pocket and a mental note of exactly what to buy and how much change to bring back. She was, without knowing it, running the tightest expense management program I've ever seen. No receipt? Don't come home. Over budget? Explain yourself. Unauthorized spend? Grounded. She didn't need a system. She had The Look. Fast forward 25 years — I married a Swiss woman (the most fiscally disciplined people on Earth), half my family is French, and I've spent years watching European companies fight through tools that make my mom's envelope system look advanced. Yesterday we announced Ramp is expanding into the UK and EU with the acquisition of Billhop. Because European builders deserve better than spreadsheets, bank portals from 2004, and seven approvals to buy a monitor. My mom would be proud. She'd also ask why it took so long. AI Agents Need Planning, Stateful Multi‑agent Architectures
Most “AI agents” today are just LLMs calling tools in a loop. LLM → Tool → LLM. That works for simple tasks. But it breaks when workflows become long-running, multi-step, or stateful. A new open-source project from LangChain — Deep Agents — explores a...
