Personalized Pitches Win More Speaking Gigs

If you want to book more speaking engagements and guest appearances: Make it custom every time. Increasing your responses means decreasing your outreach. That’s okay. Each one you send will have a higher likelihood of succeeding. Your ideas and expertise remains the same. Your talk can even be the same. But your explanation of how THIS person or group or industry sees value is different than the rest. Some tips for doing starting this and structuring it: Write a blurb you then customize each time, not by dropping in template bits (Hello, [NAME], I love how your event [THING].• Nope. Instead, write a blurb that follows these beats: align with the audience, agitate the pain, assert a better way forward, and invite them on a journey. Then list a few takeaways you’ll share. Customize most heavily pitch to pitch what specific things you write under alignment and agitation. Make the same assertion (but in language they understand), and make a similar invitation (ditto). The way to lead people to your ideas and talks is to first get better at meeting them where they’re at NOW. That means the first pieces of your pitch use language they’d use, terms they share, even the theme of the event or show. Pitching means realizing everybody receiving your words is scanning the same bland pitches at high volume. What can you do to separate and resonate?
