Better Tech Boosts Advisor Well‑Being, Cuts Turnover Risk
Advisor well-being (measured by the Cantril Ladder) is strongly linked to satisfaction with their tech stack. Advisors who rated their tech stack between 1 and 3 reported an average Cantril rating of 5.6, while those who gave their stack a perfect 10 reported an average score of 8.3. Accordingly, 25% of advisors with low tech satisfaction are at high risk of turnover over the next five years, compared to just 1% of those with high satisfaction. While our research on Advisor Productivity finds that better technology may not directly boost firm productivity, it remains a critical business consideration because advisors are more likely to leave if their day-to-day experience with the tools is poor. This creates a trade-off between the cost of investing in better technology and the high costs associated with advisor turnover.
