New Army Office Aims to Quickly Develop and Scale Soldier Ideas

The U.S. Army has launched the Pathway for Innovation and Technology (PIT), a new office that fuses soldier‑driven ideas with rapid‑acquisition mechanisms. PIT sits alongside the FUZE program, Joint Innovation Outpost and Global Tactical Edge Directorate, giving innovators a direct line to Program Acquisition Executives who control funding. By running xTech competitions, SBIR contracts and FUZE’s Tech Maturation Program, the office can move concepts—from power‑generation solutions for unmanned aerial systems to other gear—into fielded equipment within months rather than years. The initiative is still in its first 90 days, but it already plans to transition hundreds of projects into formal programs.
