Orora Reports First Year of Reduced Emissions at Gawler Glass Manufacturing Site

Orora has completed the first year of operation for its G3 oxy‑fuel glass furnace at the Gawler plant in South Australia. The $130 million upgrade, funded in part by a $12.5 million government grant, has cut natural‑gas use by 32% and eliminated more than 13,000 tonnes of CO₂ while NOx emissions fell over 70%. Recycled‑glass input rose more than 30%, allowing peak recycled content of 90% and delivering total CO₂ savings of over 27,000 tonnes per year. The company says the furnace will help meet its target of a 60% emissions‑intensity reduction per tonne of glass by FY35.
