Microsoft Quietly Changed How BitLocker Works — and It Could Lock You Out of Your Own PC
Microsoft’s Windows 11 24H2 update now activates BitLocker automatically during the out‑of‑box experience when a Microsoft account, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot are present. The encryption starts silently, using the same engine as the Pro‑only BitLocker but without visible controls on Home devices.
