Dalkia Picked for M&E at British Museum Energy Centre

The British Museum has appointed Dalkia to design, install and commission the mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems for a new energy centre that will replace its gas‑fired boilers with an all‑electric solution. The programme, valued at £33 million, incorporates a 5.1 MW air‑source heat pump, a 7 MW water‑source heat pump and a 900 kW electric boiler, aiming to cut carbon emissions by roughly 1,700 tonnes annually. Construction began in late 2024 and is slated for completion in 2029, with upgrades to high‑voltage distribution and a green roof to enhance biodiversity. The project integrates modern plant while preserving the museum’s Grade I‑listed buildings.
