China’s Minerals Leverage Raises Quantum Security Concerns
A new study by Stanford, Los Alamos and CIGI warns that China's expanding control over critical minerals could jeopardize the supply chains essential for quantum computers and communications. It also notes that quantum hardware, from Google’s indium‑based Willow chip to IBM’s niobium‑based processors, depends on these scarce inputs. The authors propose a Quantum Criticality dashboard to give governments early warnings of material shortages.
