
ClassNK grants first autonomous ship notation to container vessel Genbu
ClassNK awarded its AUTO-Nav2 (All) notation to the container ship Genbu, marking the world’s first certification of an autonomous navigation system for medium‑ to long‑distance routes. The ship, built by Kyokuyo Shipyard and operated by Suzuyo Marine, is part of the Nippon Foundation’s MEGURI2040 fully autonomous program.
Tesla disclosed that its robotaxi service still depends on human remote assistance operators to intervene in a number of trips, with about 50 vehicles in operation and some still carrying safety drivers.
